What lies ahead..

Lets face it! We are sick of the blissfully happy married couples our age rubbing it in our faces. Every time I want to log into Facebook, I take a second to brace myself for all the honeymooning I'm going to be accosted with, or how many of my distant friends are going to proclaim that they are now engaged. What follows almost instantly from looking at these photos (after the nausea wears off) is a sense of emptiness, a sense that we too should be worrying about looking for a life partner. That if we don't find someone soon, all the good ones will be taken and we'll be left with the runt. And the fear that twenty years later, we'll be living in a single bedroom apartment with six cats named after our best friends who all got married and had children.

Let's review again what our blissfully married friends are getting into. Two people decide to spend the rest of their lives together. They decide to put up with each other's quirks, eccentricities, likes and dislikes for the rest of their lives. They decide to have and raise children together. They've decided to dive into a deluge of diapers, drool, and drama.

And lets look to what they're missing out on. They're missing out on travelling alone, exploring friendships, going on vacations by yourself, staying up late with friends just talking, not making your bed when you wake up, having the freedom to leave home whenever you want, and coming back whenever you want! And frankly, I like cats!

So if ignorance is bliss, then yes they shall remain blissfully married.
